What you should know about Chiropractors

October 27, 2017 by Jonathon Langer
5 Things a Chiropractor Knows | Langer Chiropractic Soft Tissue Perth

A Chiropractor works to improve and manage spinal health together with alleviating or treating any spinal pain.  Chiropractic can be beneficial for a greater range of illnesses than you might imagine, it is the spine’s role in the central nervous system function that makes this possible.  A strong spine is key to more than just a pain free back but to wellbeing in a more general sense. Some obvious and not so obvious conditions which can be helped by visiting a Chiropractor include:

  • Lower, mid and upper back pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Pain in legs such as sciatica
  • Stress

Chiropractors use gentle adjustment to promote spinal alignment and ensure your spine is working as it should.  You may not have noticed any of the bones in your spine (vertebrae) being out of line, but everyday tasks can cause small misalignments you were unaware of.  This gentle adjustment by your Chiropractor will relieve strains on the vertebrae, removing discomfort and preventing any escalation of the condition.  Spinal misalignments can cause pressure on the bones or neurological system which can lead to some of the conditions mentioned above.  Gentle correction of this pressure is a key aim of a Chiropractor, together with education on how to maintain good spinal health in everyday life.  You may also be unaware that several research studies have identified Chiropractic as an effective treatment for children and babies.  Increasingly, health professionals such as Community Midwives and GPs are referring patients to Chiropractors.  Naturally, the pressure applied is even more gentle than that used for adults and Chiropractors offering this service are highly trained and experienced.

Chiropractic aims at addressing pain and symptoms, and subsequently, it aims at maintaining a healthy spine as part of an overall approach to good health.

Chiro and Occupational Therapy are categorised as alternative therapies and are available without the need for a medical referral.  The services of the clinic are claimable by holders of private health care in accordance with the policy terms and conditions.  Please contact your health insurance provider to clarify if in doubt.
